This year at Ellin & Tucker we decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little differently by sharing the love with Baltimore’s underprivileged babies and young children.
In February, Ellin & Tucker’s Giving Back Committee hosted a Valentine’s Day “Share the Love” fundraiser benefiting ShareBaby, Baltimore’s first – and only – diaper bank. Founded in 2015 by three local moms, the not-for-profit works to address the unmet basic needs of Baltimore’s vulnerable babies and young children through the distribution of diapers and other essential items.
Diaper insecurity has been a long-standing issue for low-income families in our community. According to ShareBaby’s website, an estimated 25,000 children of diaper age live in poverty in Baltimore City and no state or federal assistance programs support the purchase of diapers. Once the pandemic hit, ShareBaby, saw an unforeseen increase in need. They stepped up to the challenge supporting thousands of children with millions of items over the past year.
Truly inspired by ShareBaby and their mission, Ellin & Tucker wanted to contribute to their cause. Through our efforts, we raised enough funds to donate 10,000 diapers to ShareBaby. Giving Back Committee members recently visited the ShareBaby warehouse, where they received a tour and learned how the organization has pivoted their operations during the pandemic to ensure diapers and other essential items safely get to the families that they serve.
We are thrilled to support ShareBaby and all the incredible work they do to ensure Baltimore’s babies and young children get the best start in life. To learn more about ShareBaby and how you can support their efforts, visit their website.
